I'm having some trouble with the GPG keys that are saved on my system. I receive errors whenever I run the Update manager. Is there anyway in which I could revert back to the Default repositories and Signatures provided in the clean Jaunty Installation?

Thanks

You can go to System > Administration > Software Sources. In Third-Party Softwares tab, you can remove the tick from the sources that you have added manually or you can add the GPG keys for the sources you are getting error for and then run

sudo apt-get update

You can also replace your /etc/apt/sources.list with the list from a fresh jaunty install and run sudo apt-get update.

I'm specifically having a problem with the canonical repositorie for Jaunty Releases. Is there any way to get an updated/original key for that repository?

Try to run this command

sudo apt-get update -o Acquire::http::No-Cache=true

Thank you!

Also, some of the packages (e.g. chromium and a few others) are not able to recognize my distribution. So, under description of update, all i see is Failed to detect distribution.

Is there a way to fix that too?

Aren't you using jaunty? Which packages are showing that error and can you please post the exact message?

Yes, i'm using jaunty. Its the chromium package that shows the error. It just says Failed to detect distribution.

That message comes after it tries to get the information. It could also be a problem with the server.

May be you are getting these errors because they are still updating it. I think it's not stable yet.

I recently made a mistake in trying to add a wine repository souce.list. Now I can't get any updates or download anything. In the terminal i keep getting a message
" E: Type '--2009-12-10' is not known on line 1 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list.d/winehq.list "

How do I reset my repositories to their original state?

I also seem to be having some repository problems. When I attempt a sudo apt-get update I get this at the end:

Reading package lists... Done
W: A error occurred during the signature verification. The repository is not updated and the previous index files will be used. GPG error: http://extras.ubuntu.com maverick Release: The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY 16126D3A3E5C1192

W: Failed to fetch http://extras.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/maverick/Release

W: Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

My sources.list is as follows:

I attempted sudo apt-get update -o Acquire::http::No-Cache=true because it seemed to help Z|X, but I get the same error.

I would appreciate some advice for fixing this.

(Also yes, I am running Maverick)
