View Full Version : [ubuntu] Install on SSD

Hey, I am going to buy an SSD to boot windows and some other applications. I also want to install ubuntu 9.04. As you know SSD is very expensive/GB so I was wondering how much I will need to set aside. I found this on www.ubuntu.com

"Install requires at least 4 GB of disk space. "

But I don't know how accurate that is, should I allow more?
I have a 1TB 7200k drive that will store all my files, so I have plenty of space besides this partition.

I have a fresh install of Jaunty with a separate /home partition. It is only using 2.7 GB so 4 GB should suffice.

That said, if it were me, I would be much more comfortable with at least 6 GB.

Thanks Miljet, I think I'll go with the 64 GB then, probably 6-8 for Ubuntu and the rest for XP Pro, and hopefully someday Windows 7 that is optimized for SSD's.
