I'm trying to install Ubuntu Server Edition on an older laptop. It's a Toshiba L25, celeron-m, ati radeon mobility 200M. When I start the install disc as soon as I press enter on Install Server at the boot loader, the screen goes black and that's it.

I understand 9.04 has some trouble with FGLRX and X.org, but that shouldn't be affecting me trying to do a text-mode install.

Any ideas? I've already tried booting with acpi=no BTW

It's a common problem with old ATI cards, it seems that the new Ubuntu doesn't support any of them, I have an ATI Mobility x300 with the same problem.

This is the thread about this: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1133931&highlight=ati

But my problem is during the text-mode install...so neither X nor any of it's drivers can possibly be the problem....I was worried this would happen...please people, actually read the entirety of my post. I'm trying to install server edition...ie...command line, and still not getting any video.
