9.04 Update Manager Problems

Whenever I run Update Manager (after installing 9.04), I get a window stating that "Not all updates can be installed" and that I can only run a "Partial Upgrade". When I try to run the Partial Upgrade, it reads the cache, asks to start the ugrade, and then just bombs out and does nothing. It seems unable to:

remove libdb4.5-java
remove nautilus-cd-burner
install gcj-4.3-base
install libbrasero-media0
install libdb4.6-java
install libdb4.6-java-gcj
install libgcj-bc
install libgcj-common
install libgcj9-0
install libgcj9-jar
upgrade brasero
upgrade libluecene2-java

Any ideas how I can get past this roadblock? I have used apt-get to autoremove, autoclean, etc. Which seems to work, a little... but when Update Manager re-downloads those apps, it locks up again. I would be very interested to hear ideas of what's wrong!

With sudo spt-get update you sync your source list with server and sudo apt-get upgrade upgraded packages.You still have one package witch is hold back so run in terminal


sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

I had a similar problem in 9.04, except that Update Manager will not run at all. When I click on "Install Updates" a progress bar pops up for "Reading Package Information", and when it's finished, nothing else happens. The code:

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade
ran the update in terminal, and I seem to have everything now. But did this fix anything? Will I have to do this everytime, rather that using the GUI Update Manager? Is this a bug in Jaunty?

Four weeks later, this continues to be a problem. I have to manually install updates every time.
