I have a Dell Inspiron 1720 Laptop with 4GB ram and two hard drives made specifically for the laptop from Dell: primary is 160GB 5400 rpm and secondary is 200GB 7200 rpm. I am wanting to triple boot Vista, XP, and Ubuntu, but I'm not sure what hard drive to install them to. I want to put them all on one hard drive and use the other for data storage and wasn't sure if the spindle speed made a difference for storage or performance.

Definately the faster 200gb harddrive.

You should install in this order only;

1. Windows XP
2. Windows Vista
3. Ubuntu.

Then format the 160gb to; NTFS as both windows and linux can read / write to this.

Hope this helps :D
