I was just wondering if ya'll thought Kubuntu was worthy of an install and how to go about doing it(the best way, through symanptic or another way)

Sure, it's worth a try. You can install on top of your ubuntu installation it with the following line:

apt-get install kubuntu-desktop
If you don't like it, just ask your login manager to start a Gnome session and/or install ubuntu-desktop again with

apt-get install ubuntu-desktop

Its definately come along way...Now I need to ask..Dolphin is a file manager, right? And would it be ok to erase gnome? I dont want all this space taken up

Yes, Dolphin is a file manager (a bloody good one too) and the default one in KDE. You may still use konqueror if you wish

Pure KDE can be found here: http://psychocats.net/ubuntu/purekde

To my knowledge wiping gnome would be ok but I've only ever done clean install

Typo?

Synaptic is somewhere in system, It's been a year since I used gnome so I've no idea :(

You could always use a terminal?

In Kubuntu KPackageKit is the package manager. You can either press alt+F2 and type
kdesu kpackagekit which will run it as root.

try KMenu -> Applications (at the bottom) -> System -> KPackageKit
