New install of Ubuntu 8.10

Last time I had upgraded to the newest one and did the regular system updates on to find that my sound no longer worked and could not find a solution.

So now I ask, what should I do? Install the system updates and not upgrade? Or just leave it alone?

search for some compatibility reference between your hardware and 9.04. like:

I know there are better ones. The supported way to upgrade from one release to the very next release is to run update-manager -d
sudo update-manager -dAll in all jaunty has better hardware support, but I know what you mean about losing sound...this hasnt happened to me since beta 8.04, so it would help to know what computer model you will be running the OS on.
