I have an update alert. When I open the update manager, I receive the following message:
Not all updates can be install
Run a partial upgrade, to install as many updates as possible
This can be caused by:
* A previous upgrade which didn't complete
* Problems with some of the installed software
* Unofficial software packages not provided by ubuntu
* Normal changes of pre-release version of ubuntu

I am running 8.04. I have not tried to upgrade. The two programs I installed before the previous update bitdefender and sbackup. I completely removed those packages. The bitdefender because of the programs that it will not let me update:
avscan
clamav
clamav-frshclam
linux-generic
linux-headers-generic
linux-image-generic
linux-restricted-modules-gneric

and sbackup just dies.

It asks me to do a partial upgrade.

I am not sure what to do and I do not want to crash my system.

Thanx for any input
