View Full Version : [ubuntu] Netgear Dongle
May 10th, 2009, 06:20 PM
I have just installed the latest Ubuntu (v.9.04) on my PC. Our family has a Netgear router, so I was looking at getting a WG111 USB dongle.
Is this supported in v.9 or will it require configuation? I am quite new to Linux, so all comments welcome.

I had two WG111 and the best I could do was to get intermittent service. There is a lot on this forum on this subject and you can try to configure this product and after time you may get it to work. I gave up.
The Linksys WUSB54GC works out of the box and I have had good luck with it. However, my computer that uses the usb adaptor is a long way from the router and I get a weak signal. I found a youtube vid on the subject of the Edimax EW-7318USG (Newegg approx $25). This adaptor has an external antenna and is great for weak signals and longer range. It works great.
