View Full Version : [ubuntu] After update (9.04): Compiz & AWN won't work at all. Help, please!

I FINALLY got Ubuntu 9.04 to boot and then load the desktop (not just a black screen), but then the first thing I noticed was an AWN error message (a startup program) saying that my screen was not composited. Then, I realized that Compiz does not work, either.

Those two programs really make up, what, about 50% of why I love to use Ubuntu?

Anyway, I was wondering if using Synaptics to completely uninstall and then reinstall both programs and their respective associated packages would resolve the issue, or if there is something else I have to do.

Thanks!

Graphics/memory/processor specs:
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950
1 GB DDR2 RAM
Intel Core Duo Processor T2250

These are not the fastest specs for a laptop, by any means, but they are fast enough to run Vista HP and to have supported full Compiz and AWN effects perfectly in the Ubuntu 8 series. (Note: I dual boot Vista and Ubuntu.)
