I am dual booting XP and 9.04, seperate hard drives. When I boot XP through grub, the "Starting up..." flashes on screen and XP boots.
When I boot 9.04, it says

booting from hd(1,1) <UUID> (something like that)
Starting up...

This takes about 5 seconds, but it takes no time for XP.
hd(0,0) is XP
hd(1,0) is FAT32
hd(1,1) is ext4 mount point /
hd(1,2) is ext4 mount point /home
hd(1,3) is swap

Is this normal?
Thanks.

I have the same problem, except mine hangs on "starting up" for about 20 seconds. In 8.10 it wasn`t a problem.
Does anyone know why?
