View Full Version : [ubuntu] First time installation... Partitioning Question?
May 9th, 2009, 07:41 PM
I would like to dual-boot Ubuntu by doing a full install on a 28 gig partition on the same hard drive were my windows is installed. The partition is the last on the drive, so I would like to find out the best way to proceed with the installation. I guess my main question would be which option do I choose from the 'Prepare disk space' menu and whether I have to setup the swap partition before hand?
Thanks in advance for any help and suggestions.

If u r using the partitioner in the install program just select use half of the drive (I'm not sure on the exact wording) and it will setup the swap for you.

Should I just delete the partition and choose the option to install on the largest available free space, as I am assuming that this is what that option means and that it will then create the swap partition as well.
Or, should I delete the partition and use GParted from the LiveCD to create the partitions and then pick the manually choose location option?
