I've been struggling with Jaunty for a week. At first I've been dealing with all of the ATI driver issues. However, I think that the last straw may be my font rendering. I've tried every trick out there to fix my font rendering but I'm still left with virtually unreadable text.

I get red and blue blur on all my text. I've tried full hinting, no hinting, contrast, subpixel smooting..it all looks like CRAP. I'm convinced that it's the driver since I never had this problem on this machine with this monitor until this upgrade (I've always used the fglrx driver in the past).

Since I work in front of this computer all day, the eye strain is KILLING me.

I'm seriously considering backing up my data again and nuking this install and reinstalling 8.10.

Anyone else feel this way? Is there any hope that any of this will be fixed anytime soon?

My roommate has an ATI card too and supposedly the fglrx drivers don't work properly with 9.04. I'd recommend dropping back to 8.10 unless there is something amazing with 9.04 that you'd like to keep.
