new install, new user, no username and password

Hi

i've just installed 9.04 through the windows installer. it seemed to have installed okay, but there is a login box asking for a username and a password. i've checked some other posts and it seems a step has been missed, somehow: at no point during the installation did i put in a username or come up with a password. do i have to start over or is there any way of working around this?

Really? How odd.

I don't have much experience with Wubi installs, but when you start up Ubuntu, is there a GRUB countdown screen? If so, please try and press escape, and drop into the recovery mode. Reply back if that works, and I'll advise you further.
