Screensaver causing system freeze in Jaunty

Ever since I installed 9.04 this week, I have had to disable my screensaver, With the screensaver enabled, the system freezes within a few minutes and requires a cold reboot to recover. I haven't seen this problem reported elsewhere so I wonder what might be causing this on my system. I've been upgrading to each new relese since I began with 6.04 or 6.10 a few years ago. This time I did a clean install instead of an upgrade My hardware is a Dell Inspiron 6000. Anything else you need to know, just ask.

Did you install from the desktop CD version or from the ALTERNATE CD version ? If you installed from desktop, I would try the installation from ALTERNATE.
