I have a test system that was running 8.10 and I upgraded to 9.04. I have totally screwed it up (/root) and I was going to re-install 8.10 on it but I have files (285GB) /usr I do not want to lose nor do I want to just install root and then add all the proprietary drivers unless I have to. Not to mention the test machine does not have a cd/dvd drive installed. Both machines are identical as far as motherboards, chipsets and HD's. I actually took the HD drive out of the production PC a while back and installed it in the test PC without any problems.
I would need to copy or backup the root partition on the production PC to a 4GB USB and restore it to the test PC. Can this be accomplished?
I think they even have identical partition sizes (root), but not 100% sure.
