partial install

Hi,
I am somewhat new to the Ubuntu environment and I started with version 8.10. I was only able to install a partial upgrade of version 9.04 and now I am unable to connect to the internet by LAN or Wireless. I have followed all the help parts in the self help sections and still no luck. Can I go backwards to where I was or can I download on another computer the latest version, put it on a cd and do a repair installation? Any and all help woud be appreciated.

Was your Intrepid up to date before you did upgrade?Better is to download Jaunty and try to do fresh install then try to downgrade.
