Hello, there! I am new in Linux and this is the first time that I am using a Linux distribution. I installed Ubuntu on my Dell Inspiron 9100 laptop. Then I decided to install the ATI drivers from ati, which was a stupid move because now I have screen corruption and the computer is unusable. Can somebody explain to me how to revert this change? I mean the graphical user interface does not load right, but I am able to get to the comand line. Where do I do from here.

By the way, the graphics card is a ATI mobility radean 9700.

Hello,

here are the instructions you need:

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1135733

by the way: if it's ubuntu 9.04 you've installed then I have bad news: there's no support from ATI for your card for this release of ubuntu - there won't be any drivers from ATI in the future and the previous version (Catalyst 9.3) is incompatible with ubuntu 9.04.
Good news: the opensource drivers (default on fresh install) should do rather ok for this card.
