View Full Version : [ubuntu] Jaunty graphics deteriorate (intel chipset)

May 7th, 2009, 04:18 PM
I recently installed Jaunty on an old(er) VAIO laptop which uses intel graphics.

Everything seems fine except for the fact that the longer the machine sits (after starting X) the worse the graphics get. It seems to be specific to characters (numbers, letters, etc.).

I've done a search and haven't found anything specific about this problem, but I wonder if it has to do with the whole intel drivers/xorg 1.6 thing?

I do not have compiz or any desktop effects enabled, this is a straight vanilla install. I've also tried kubuntu to see what happened, and this problem does NOT surface in Kubuntu.

Please see the attached screenshot.

Does anyone have an idea of what might be causing this?
