Hi,

I am a new guy to Linux (Ubuntu). I have just installed Ubuntu 9.04 on my notebook computer. Everything OK except its Music. When I double click on the Audacious, it opens a control panel but there was no music. I can see that some MP3 files were loaded (or imported). But it just has NO sound. I have checked my computer volume control which has been turned on, and to its maximum.

Please help. Many thanks.

Have you used: System / Preferences / Sound?
Can you hear any sound in the test push buttons on: Sound Events | Music and Movies | Audio Conferencing ?

Perhaps you need to go into Synaptic Package Manager,
search for ubuntu-restricted-extras and mark the box for installation,
then click Apply.
this will install .mp3 support and lots more too.

note make sure you select the correct one as there are
ubuntu-restricted-extras
kbuntu-restricted-extras
and
xbuntu-restricted-extras
but you do say you are using Ubuntu.

Also I can thoroughly recommend Audacious as an audio player.

Hope this helps you out.
