Update Manager not offering new distribution

My 8.10 showed the upgrade button initially, but I took no action due to a time crunch. Now I cannot trigger the button at all. I would like to avoid the CD install on this unit if possible. Can anyone indicate either how to trigger the button again; or how to enter the same process using Run Application?

Alot of people have had problems using the upgrade to Jaunty 9.04 through the update manager from 8.10, everyone is suggesting doing a clean install from 9.04 Livecd, download and burn it.
