where is my installed app?

First of all, yes I am a newbie. I just installed AVG for linux but I don't see it anywhere. could someone please help me out?

I haven't won't install an antivirus program, but third party programs that aren't in the repositories usually install to the /opt directory. I would suggest looking there. In nautilus (Places-->Home Folder), click file system and navigate to /opt in the right hand pane.
