I install xubuntu 8.10 alternate only command-line. Then I install xorg gdm xfce4 and reboot. Then I install xubuntu-restricted-extras, multimedia codec, p7zip-full, and others.
When I download file with zip extention, I cannot extract file directly. So I found that I have to install thunar achive plugin but after I install plugin, it still cannot extract zip file. The error shown that:

Could not open archive, MIME-type unsupported or file did not exist

What should I do?
thank you

Have you checked the file properties to makes sure there IS a file and not just an empty .zip "container"?

How are you trying to extract the file? The easiest way would be to right-click on the .zip, click on "Extract here" from the context menu.

Does that not work for you?

I'm sure that is not an empty file cause it is ~10 MB. And I try to extract it in your way but it still show that message:

Could not open archive, MIME-type unsupported or file did not exist

I wonder what is MIME-type support?

thank you
