Site Offline

Hi,

Due to a attack on the site, it is currently offline. They apparently found a flaw in Drupal to change info. The sad part is that as it was happening, I found usernames that were not real and was in the process of getting rid of them. The site will be back up shortly.

Hi, just a small Question. I'm back in Germany and i can't reach the website from Germany.
It just shows a Navigation Help from my ISP.

Does the Site work in the US?
i mean it is ok if the attacks came from Europe to block such IP's.
i don't need to use the website right now i just wanted to tell you.

I am not sure what we should use. The last site was drupal, and it seems it got hacked. We could go with that again, as there are Ubuntu/LoCo themes for it. I like the simplicity of wordpress There are Ubuntu themes for it too). I don't think we need the relative complexity of Drupal. A lot of features can be added to Wordpress while Drupal has a lot by default.

I personally have a some knowledge of the Xoops cms system, but it is not at the top of my list really

What about Joomla? I think it's a little simpler than Drupal and still has plenty of functionality with all the available plugins.

Someone has already created some Ubuntu templates, including one that matches the new Ubuntu website look.

P.S. The site where the templates can be downloaded from is in Finnish and requires registration. I've already registered and download the templates so if you want them I can email the .zip files.

I would vote for Joomla or Wordpress.
Joomla has a lot of functions (with Plugins too), but i think it is a bit to complex for our Purpose.
Wordpress is simple to use for everyone and has a lot of Plugins too.

I created Websites with both, so i can help too.
My Experience with Drupal isn't that big but you learn something new every day ;-)

I think more important is what the Website should do.

Do we need another Forum?
I think this Forum is enough to discuss so we don't need another one at the Website

A User Map?
That would be a cool thing to see where the other ubuntu users are living.

A Blog Section??
Where every user can post Stuff regarding Maine and/or Ubuntu

any other thoughts/ideas?

and btw: thanks claydoh for doing that. i can offer my help too. Together we can restart the Website and can keep it alive

One thing that I think would be useful on the new site would be a calendar of events. That way if someone was planning a meet-up they could submit it to the site admin and have it published so anyone interested could find out about it. It would also be a good way to schedule IRC meetings.

And if it had iCal support so I could add the calendar feed to my Google calendar that would be even better. :D
