Just upgraded my system from ubuntu 8.04 to 9.04.

But couldn't start desktop effects as nvidia drivers are not installed,
i started synaptic and looked for nvidia-glx drivers but all of them have become obsolete.

My graphics card is Geforce Go 7400

In vlc if I try to install using synaptic it says
vlc:
Depends: vlc-nox but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libtar but it is not installable

if i select vlc-nox for installation it says

vlc-nox:
Depends: libass1 but it is not installable
Depends: libdca0 but it is not installable
Depends: libdvbpsi4 but it is not installable
Depends: libdvdnav4 (>=4.1.3) but 4.1.2-3 is to be installed
Depends: libdvdread4 (>=4.1.3) but it is not installable
Depends: libebml0 but it is not installable
Depends: libmatroska0 but it is not installable
Depends: libtwolame0 but it is not installable
Depends: libvcdinfo0 (>0.7.23) but it is not installable

what should i do???
