Hi,

I use dell inspiron 1525 laptop. I was running with ubuntu 8.10, and when i upgraded to 9.04 it looked fine.

yesterday when i tried to hibernate and after that when i started it again, Xserver has crashed.

I am looking at a solution to get the Xserver coming up.

Also, i am not able to login to the laptop at all without 9.04 DVD rescue option.

Is there any easy way to change the Ubuntu run level to 3 and then start fixing the Xserver issue?

Thanks in advance
Harinath

I some how got the stuff back, but again gone.

I have modified menu.lst and made delay to 5 seconds. so while booting pressed escape to get the grub boot menu. Used recovery option.

later on, i got the hibernated session back. It was nice. but while uninstalling some of unused softwares, i got another problem on next reboot.

Now the problem is there is a blank screen/dark screen thats it with some flickering in the beginning.

Any idea how i can get control on Xserver, 9.04 doesnt look to be that stable one.
