I downloaded the ubuntu 8.10 alternative alternae amd 64 iso torrent. Did the md5 check sum, which came out ok. Burned it to a CD at 1x speed. Restatred with cd in the tray and I went to "check the CD" and it gives me the following error message:

./pool/restricted/d/drdsl/drdsl_1.2.0-1_amd64.deb file failed the md5 checksum verification. Your cd rom files may have been corrupted

I've downloaded many different versions and burned many times to many disks. Same problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe try another burn program like imgburn (http://www.imgburn.com/) and try a different brand of disk.
