View Full Version : [ubuntu] Setting up proxy server on a VPS running ubuntu server version

May 5th, 2009, 09:29 PM
I have signed up a for a very cheap virtual private hosting account and was wondering waht to do with it. The other day opportunity exhibited itself. I realized someone in my employer netw. admin team is actually snooping the packets to see the contents. I am not sure with management's blessing or not but I am not gonna go that far, investigating. Instead, I'd like to set up an https proxy on this VPS so that I can do my browsing securely, away from prying eyes.

Having said that, the server came with a barebones OS installation. I have about 10GB of disk space. No GUI available, just terminal session via ssh.

Can someone tell me if what I am thinking is possible ? if so, what software can I use and any gotcha's I should be paying attention to from the get go ?

As always, thanks in advance.
