I just recently installed Ubuntu 9.04 and I cant seem to get my system resolution to work I thought I installed the drivers at first but I guess I didnt.

When I go to system>preferences>display I get a message stating:

It appears thatr your graphic driver does not support the necessary extensions to sue this tool. Do you want to use your graphics drivers vendors tool instead. And then u get two options yes and no and I click on yes and I get taken to Nvidia x Server Settings which lets me view the server display configuraiton but it does not change the resolution even after I restart the system.

Im currently using Nvidia GeForce 6800 GT video card. If anyone has any idea on wut to do please help? thx

Yeah looks like you have an Nvidia card. As he said go to Hardware drivers and activate the latest version driver. I have the same problem as in the resolution never gets saved nor do any of the other settings.

install the driver then go to to Nvidia x Server Settings
set your resolution and save it back to x from there.
