View Full Version : [wubi] Oddness with Wubi

I had some trouble getting Ubunutu up and running a month ago, became frustrated and uninstalled it, reinstalling Windows XP. I still wanted to give Ubuntu a try, so I installed Kubuntu through Wubi to try a different flavor. There was some sort of problem creating the virtual disc, and I could only run Kubuntu in a flawed boot (though it did boot and I enjoyed using it). I tried to uninstall, but Wubi wouldn't follow the command. I then manual deleted the files from the Windows folder, and updated by boot.ini. XP is working fine, but I still want to move over to either Ubuntu or Kubuntu. However, neither the live CD I used, or the Wubi installer I've downloaded load on the laptop...I've double checked on the family desktop and the live CD runs there...is there a fix for this oddness?

I posted this late yesterday, so I'll try moving it up.

I received a Canonical CD of Kubuntu 9.04, and it too is not recognized. A copy of Hardy Heron, from my public library's Ubuntu for Non-Geeks, 3rd edition, works fine...Still hoping for advice/help.
