View Full Version : [ubuntu] Jaunty Live CD/Installation problems

Hi,

I'm trying to install Jaunty on my old laptop (Acer Aspire 1355 LC - Aspire 1350 series).

I'm using ubuntu-9.04-desktop-1386.iso, which I've burnt to CD. Booting from the CD gives me the initial menu OK i.e. Language selection, and then presents the subsequent menu options you'd expect. When I try either the "Live CD" or the "Install" options, it starts loading up the nice new progress bar fine. However, after about 30 seconds of the progress bar, it changes to a terminal screen, and stops at the prompt: "ubuntu@ubuntu~$:". Any ideas why I'm getting to this point and no further?

I'd appreciate any help on this!

Thanks,

BM

Just some additional information that I should have posted first time round...

When the machine stops at the "Ubuntu@ubuntu:~$" point, the top of the screen reports:

[ 3.118011] IO APIC resources could not be allocated.
Loading, please wait....

and then after a few more lines or general Ubuntu information, I get the prompt as displayed above.

I did find a post elsewhere mentioning using the F6 option and marking the "noacpi" option, but this has not made any difference..

Thaks again in advance.
