I have tried to run ubuntu on two computers one running win xp and another running win2k it goes to the desktop screen then just hangs how to fix

Are you referring to running Ubuntu from the CD or DVD? Or do you mean trying to run it inside of a virtual disk?

What problems do you experience? Where does it freeze? Do you see any loading of the operating system?

I am assuming that you are just booting from the Live CD and this is when it hangs up? Does the mouse pointer work? What version of Ubuntu?

Can you send us the hardware specifications for these two machines?

tried installing inside windows and running from dvd neither worked the one computer is a p4 1.6 128 ati video card 2 80gig hard drives
like I said it loads to the desktop display then just hangs there no errors showing

Is the 128 the memory,if so this could be a issue.
