As the title suggests, I need to make an argumentative essay on why Linux is a more superior OS. So far I have about 4 pages and still need 4 more pages, unfortunately Im not to great at expanding information and Im totally out of ideas :(

Any ideas would be awsome!

Maybe is you list the points you have already, others can chime in with what you don't yet have.

a few random thoughts:

Add OS X in to your paper... it will give you more fodder.

Remember that Linux is a choice that is not all about technical merits. There is 'Freedom' involved as well.

Eh, sorry guys :)

Yah, so far I have listed cost, stability, OLPC, licensing, security, and the open source movement.

I know theres alot more, but my brain isn't working with me right now!

And using the ubuntuforums is a great idea!

add
extensibility - the gui can be anything you want it to be.

flxability you don't even need a gui if you don't want one

package management. if you install software from a manage package then it will stay up-to-date. not just the os stays uptoday with the package management but all the software you install via it

As far as I understand, the OP is asking for help to complete his homework. I have seen a few threads with similar questions and people usually don't help, because it's an assignment that the OP should do. But nobody considered this yet. So I'm wondering if it is because the assignment is to explain why Linux is better than Windows? What would happen if was the other way?

Anyways, to find a zillion reasons why Linux is better than Windows, just use Google site search with a string like this:

Linux Ubuntu sucks site:ubuntuforums.org

other examples

Check this site:

lovinglinux's idea is also good, and you could make something like a FAQ with it.

Why bother with the search? Just take a look at the first page in the Testimonials forum :)

Well said.
The OP mighht want to say something about community: these forums excited me enough for a more regular involvement than "other OS" forums.
