Hi Guys!

I'm trying to install jaunty on my Asus Eee 900. By using the alternate install disc I'm supposedly able to make the partition as an ext4, wich I now have done. But after installing Ubuntu won't load.

I guess it is because of my kernel choice. Since I want my ubuntu to be as fast as possible I want a kernel that is made for my CPU, so i chose one of the 386 alternatives on the list. Isn't that for any Intel 32bit CPU?

My question is how do I install ubuntu from the alternate disc on my Asus Eee 900?

I've got an Eee901 and I chose to install the i386 netbook version of Jaunty. No complaints and it is faster than Intrepid was. There was an option to install an LPIA version optimised for Atom CPUs however it was recommended that you don't install this as it isn't fully supported.

You can get the LPIA image from here if you have the 900A:

http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/jaunty/release/

The other EeePC 900s have Celeron Processors see:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ASUS_Eee_PC

So you will need the standard i386 netbook version downloadable from the ubuntu homepage.
