View Full Version : [ubuntu] compiz won't launch on startup

I recently built a new pc that uses Jaunty 64-bit, and I installed Compiz and Emerald.

Both of these work fine when you manually start them, but they won't load when you boot the machine up (or log out and back in).

I have tried:

System -> Preferences -> Startup Applications, and tried adding:
compiz
fusion-icon
compiz-replace

I've also tried creating a startup script and placing it in Startup Applications, then in /etc/gdm/PostLogin/Default

None of these has helped, and I keep find myself having to manually start it any time I boot up.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks. I'm not sure if I've been through that particular thread (I went through about ten of them!) but that one looks a bit old. I think the problems they were having then are not the same as the one I'm having.

Maybe I should ask on the compiz forum and see what they say.
