cannot download updates

when i try to download the updates they give me an error and say repository

[123456789123456789123456]

is it telling you the repositories are old?
try going to synaptic, software sources. Choose the other repositories, third party ones. Then tell it reload.
This should reload the repository information.
It should also fix the update problem.
