From the PoV of a 'normal' user
-Mainly GUI (terminal when needed)
-Office applications and Net heavily used
Would I feel any different with Jaunty compared to 8.10?

You will notice
New notification system.
New default wallpaper
Smoother experience if using Compiz
And many things like faster booting, better stability and hardware recognition (thanks to the newer kernel 2.6.28, and new proprietary drivers available out of the box). And, of course many updates to important apps, OpenOffice 3, Gimp 2.6.6, Pidgin 2.5.5, Network Manager 0.7.0.100...

Open Office 3.0, sort of fails.
Whenever I do my homework on it, I get to number 10.
When it gets to 10, it tabs all the way over for some reason, and 1-9 is fine. Weird eh?

Read the release notes for potential problems, especially if you are using ATI or Intel graphics chips. Other that that; what Kosimo said.

Thanks for the feedback.
I came to Ubuntu at 8.04 and within a couple of weeks I'd gone to 8.10 so I didn't have time to see the difference -if you see what I mean.
My new PC is working super-smoothly (except for having to turn off visual effects to watch DVDs -but thats no great shakes as I have a TV and a DVD player...)
I've burned a Jaunty disc so I'll try it on 'old faithful' the PC on the floor behind me -If I break it I'll format and start again, no data lost.
Cheers guys,
Jay
