View Full Version : [ubuntu] Ubuntu Installation - Freezing At Language Selection Screen

Alright. So I can access the boot menu, and start the Ubuntu Installation CD. I can type in command lines and all that crap. But if I do press Enter to enter the installation, I get to the language selection screen, yeah. And that's where either the computer freezes, or the keyboard becomes unresponsive. I believe it's the first scenario that actually occurs, because I have to hold the power off button ~5 seconds in order to power off the computer (as opposed to just having to push it).

Yeah, I have tried changing the keyboard settings thing in the BIOS setup place. I have tried plugging out all unnecessary things using USB ports.

I have only tried Ubuntu 4.1 so far. However, I just downloaded the latest version and just have to burn it on a CD to try. I'll keep you updated. Hopefully. But for some reason I doubt anything will change.

Help would be appreciated. I was just gonna try it out real quick, too, and now I've been struggling with it for 2-or-so hours. :/

Did you check md5sum (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToMD5SUM) and CD integrity (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/CDIntegrityCheck?action=show&redirect=CDIntegrityCheck) after you burned iso?Do you get any errors?

Thanks for your time, but I lost my patience after having tried for like 2 hours. Ended up installing Windows XP again. Then I messed up. Then I messed up some more. Then some more. Then I ended up getting an up-do-date Windows XP Professional installation. *sigh*
