I've upgraded two laptops from 8.10 (Ubuntu and Xubuntu) and have experienced the same issues over file copy performance when copying large files from CD to disk. When doing such copies the mouse becomes unusable as does menu navigation. Basically the file copy is utilising 100% cpu and is not playing nicely with other applications.
In my four years us using Ubuntu I've never experienced this problem on any hardware platform. This therefore appears to be a bug! :(
Anyone else experiencing this problem?
Is is possible to "tune" the file I/O priority (copying, etc) over other programs?
