compiz snow

okay so I installed all the dependencies needed to use compiz snow and it shows up in Advanced Desktop Settings but when I put a checkmark in the box to use it it will disappear all by itself.any ideas why? I am perplexed

I got a similar problem when I tried to enable Water Effect. It was because my graphics card didn't support it. Could that your problem here?

well i think i could live without it.
( i am not trying to be a jerk, plus fire is better than snow, so try the draw fire plugin)

On my system water effect & all other effects work, so it can't possibly be a graphics card issue. Anyway, forgot to mention I am using 9.04, if in case its a Jaunty-specific issue.
