I just upgraded to jaunty and now my KDE starts up into a blank screen. However Gnome works just fine.

When I log in picking KDE, it gives me the splash screen and the login tune but then a blank screen shows up with a mouse pointer. When I press CTRL-ALT-BKSP, it shows a window with the options logout, reboot, shutdown etc.

I tried out suggestions on :
http://wiki.kde.org/tiki-index.php?page=Troubleshooting+KDE+Problems
... but none worked.

So, any suggestions?

I also tried to purge the KDE libraries that go along with the kde installation. Then I went through synaptic ... and purged everything to do with KDE that was left standing.

I don't think that this process of purging removes the config files of the packages dependent on the packages purged. So, there is a good chance that the offending config files were not removed.

After this step, I reinstalled KDE. Tried to log back in.
KDE still gives me a blank screen welcome :(
