I downloaded Kubuntu 9.04. I burned it and inserted it to the CDROM. I booted from CD. In the first menu that appears I choose: "Try Kubuntu without any change to your computer". After A while I see the terminal on full screen and that's all. The desktop and the environment won't start. I tried some commands to bring up the desktop and the GUI but there is nothing. Is it a bug? What should I do?

Did you run the option to check cd for defects at the initial screen? How fast did you burn the CD?

1. I did run this test. The result was that the CD was fine.
2. I burned the CD on x48.

1. I type startx and it brings up Kubuntu. Everything was fine except that I got a message that "The desktop process died unexpectedly".
2. I have nVIDIA GeForce 7600GT.

Why haven't it been brought up automatically without me typing startx? What seems to be the problem?

I recommend you burn it at 4x or slowest speed possible.
