my network manager applet now opens on my desktop instead of showing up in the panel at the bottom of the screen and I can't seem to delete it or move it back to the panel...If I delete it from the desktop, it immediately comes back. Can anyone tell me how to get it onto a panel where it belongs?
Some background:
I'm running 8.10 on a system with nVidia 5500(i think) graphics, one standard lcd monitor, and tvout going to my TV. Both gnome and kde are installed, and I think kdm is the default display manager, not gdm. compiz is also running.
At some point last night gnome-panel or one of the applets started taking 100% of my cpu time so I started killing processes including gnome-panel. That's when the network manager icon moved itself to the desktop. It is there now even after logging out and back in or rebooting.
thanks in advance for any help
