Hey, i have large directories full of pictures.I Usually arrange them using different attributes; like name, date modified, Size, etc....

However, when I open them using the default viewer app (eye of Gnome), the pictures always cycle through order of naming, not whatever order i set in the folder. This is very annoying, especially with alot of images.

Is there anyway i can make eye of gnome (or any program) follow the organisation shown in the folder view ?

Try GQview. There is a button at the bottom of the window for "Sort by.." as shown here http://gqview.sourceforge.net/view-shot.html

GQview is abandoned since 2006. I would like to recommend Geeqie (http://geeqie.sourceforge.net/) instead, it is a fork from GQview with the intent to continue development from where GQview stoped, and integrate the existing patchs.

I once was a GQview user, now I'm using Geeqie :)
But it is in Alpha stage, so be cautious if you try it.
