A friend of mine just upgraded his ubuntu to 9.04 from 8.10. Now, after the system is upgraded, after he logs in, the desktop looks normal, but when he clicks, or right clicks to something (menu, desktop, whatever) the screen starts showing black squares, and the system freezes.

Does anyone knows a solution? Or how can he downgrade the system?

He has an acer aspire 3680.

Best Wishes.

Need to know what type of Video card is in there - there are big problems with ATI and lesser with NVIDIA and Intel in 9.04. problems

I looked on INTERNET for his laptop specs, I found that he probably has an Inter GMA 950 video card.

I never assume anything is "Stock" - Always confirm - and yes there are some issues (and workarounds) to get INtel hardware worling - OP do a search on "intel, Jaunty" or something like that.
