I have been trying to install 9.04 on a machine that has previously accepted Ubuntu 6.1 to 8.1 flawlessly.\
Specs:
Dell Inspiron 7000 Laptop
360MB Ram
300MHz Processor
IDE Hard Drive 100GB
The Machine will boot to the Install options page, it will not run on live disk. I have already tried:
-- Safe Video install
-- known good copy of Installer CD
-- made changes to APIC etc. (although I don't know what those changes do)
Symptoms: I choose Live disk or install, or even when I attempt to upgrade through the 8.1 upgrade choice the same thing happens.
I get to the Ubuntu progress bar moving back and forth then the bar freezes and I hear the harddrive shut down, then the CD drive stops spinning, and if I wait 5-10 minutes I get bumped out to a black scteen with some code on it.
Help?
