Desktop Effects Not Working At All

Hai...
Me using ubuntu 8.04..
Advanced Desktop Effects was working quite well...
Suddenly it is not working....
when i select extra/normal from visual effects of appearance preference this message is shown "Desktop effects could not be enabled"
what should i do??:confused:

Open System > Administration > Hardware Drivers and make sure your Video drivers are activated.
