Ok, I've recently installed 9.04; however I've had a few issues.

I installed Ubuntu on seperate partition on a removable external HDD. My primary HDD has Vista installed.

When the grub loads and I am given the option to select the OS, If I select Vista I get an error 23 - if I retry any of the other OS I get an error 18. If I restart my pc but choose Ubuntu everything passes by with next to no quibbles. However when Ubuntu starts I don't believe that my desktop manager loads - I have to manually load this.

I would really appreciate any help in solving the grub problems.

Many thanks and 'scuse the noobiness.

Get Supergrub to set up/repair Grub here:

http://www.supergrubdisk.org/

after you have downloaded and created the supergrub disk boot from it then use it to fix grub.

you must read the instructions carefully and understand them, google what you do not understand. You will not hurt anything with this but can get very confused if you do not understand what it does.

Thanks, I decided to use SGD to boot windows so I can uninstall Ubuntu (following this guide: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=113630) and shall try a fresh install tomorrow when I'm more awake and will see how it goes; thanks for your quick reply.
