View Full Version : stick xconfig settings

Need some of the famous Ubuntu help. Did an automatic upgrade from 8.10 (working well but with an NVIDIA card issue) to 9.04. I just watched. It worked great, much to my surprise.

My kernel was reconfigured and the latest Nvidia driver was installed and the graphics are great. Only problem, every time I re-boot, I have to re-configure the second monitor and all the other features in Xconfig.

So far always able to re-configure, but a bit of a pain. How do I make the changes sticky through a re-boot? In case this helps, when I click "save to x configuration file", then click "save" I get this message:

Unable to remove old X config backup file '/etc/X11/xorg.conf.backup'.

Also, while I have your attention, why am I unable to display in my outgoing T-bird e-mail messages the (xxx.jpg) file I have checked in the account settings "attach this signature" box?

Thanks to one and all. The latest version is working well for me...
