Backspace tab to do what, please? Do you mean backspace does not take you back to the previous page? I don't quite understand you problem.

Try setting browser.backspace_action to 0
If you are not familiar with how to do this,
1. go to "about:config"
2. Click on "I'll be careful..."
3. Search for backspace
4. Set the value to 0

That should set your backspace to go back in history

Yes,Back space Tab is for going back to the page visited last. Yes, I tried searching for backspace tab and its default entry in about:config in Firefix but could not find any.

Which version of Firefox do you have?
I can see the option in Firefox 3.0 as well as 3.5p4
